Kevin Keegan was born in February 1951 at his aunt Nellie’s house in Elm Place in Armthorpe.He attended St. Peter’s High School in Cantley. 

His uncle Frank gave him his first football and his father gave him his first pair of football boots. His father won a bet on horses and bought him the boots from a sports shop owned by Ray Harrison, a former Doncaster Rovers player.

 Keegan was the captain of his school’s cricket team. He also took part in cross country running, rugby, and football. Kevin Keegan also boxed at Bruce Woodcock’s local club, who was called as  former British Heavyweight champion.

He became the highest-paid and fastest player at the club and was signed by Dr. Peter Krohn, the business manager. Keegan scored well in pre-season matches against Barcelona and Liverpool, but  SV Hamburg lost in the European Super Cup final against Liverpool.

 Keegan won the France Football European Footballer of the Year award in 1978 for scoring 12 goals, and his team finished tenth in the league that season.
